Fisher’s Hill Re-enactment

September 13-14, 2008

Members of the 78th PA, along with other units from the 3rd Regiment, participated in a re-enactment of the Battle of Fisher’s Hill on the actual battlefield near Strasburg , VA.   On Saturday, the Federals skirmished with the Rebels from the base of Ramseur’s Hill through mid-afternoon.  On Sunday, the Federals followed part of the attack route of the 8th Corps and flanked the Rebel stronghold on the hill.  The Federals represented the 34th Massachusetts for the re-enactment.  The Fisher’s Hill battlefield is still well preserved and this re-enactment helped raise money to keep it that way.

Some of the guys cook rations for breakfast on Saturday.
