2004 Tecumseh District Camporee

April 17-18, 2004 at Northmoreland Park

Over the weekend of April 17-18, 2004 the 78th PVI Co. F ,19th Ohio Light Artillery and 40th Pa. Vol. Inf. conducted a Civil War themed Camporee at Northmoreland Park near Apollo, Pa. The camp was  conducted with the scouts set up in "company streets" with each group having their own "NCOs".  The approximately 150 scouts were divided into "companies of about 25 boys which were "officered" by a reenactor.  The companies were lead through various stations including Signaling, Drill, Cooking, Sewing, Cartridge making, and Civil War artifacts.  The boys were instructed in "Rounders" (baseball) and each group played several innings.  They especially enjoyed the Artillery demonstration which included a live fire Mortar demonstration.  The boys were impressed with the event and it also planted some seeds for the scouts to take part in reenacting and studying the Civil War era in general.

The Scouts set up camp.
